Wade Street Student Accommodation – Bristol

Full Mechanical Services Design & Installation

LDM Building Services is currently delivering a comprehensive mechanical services package for the Wade Street Student Accommodation development, located in Bristol city centre. The project will provide modern residential accommodation for students, with completion scheduled for June 2026.

Scope of Works

LDM was appointed to design, supply, and install all mechanical systems throughout the building. The scope includes:

  • Air conditioning systems serving student common areas and meeting rooms
  • Ventilation systems to communal spaces
  • Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV) systems serving student living accommodation
  • Low Temperature Hot Water (LTHW) services distributing heating throughout the building
  • Domestic hot water generation via HIU units within each dwelling
  • Heat generation currently provided by gas boilers as a temporary solution until connection to the Bristol Heat District Network becomes available
  • Sprinkler system designed in accordance with BS9251
  • Full plantroom installation and associated services

Project Progress

Installation works are progressing well on site, with major distribution pipework routes and corridor services now taking shape across multiple floors. The visible infrastructure represents only one part of a carefully coordinated mechanical design intended to deliver long-term efficiency, reliability, and compliance.

Engineering Approach

This project demonstrates LDM’s capability to manage complex, multi-system mechanical installations — from early-stage design coordination through to on-site delivery and commissioning. Particular attention has been given to system integration, future-proofing for district heating connection, and maintaining efficient plantroom performance.
